Pre-prepped marinated chicken has seriously been life changing in our household! We try to eat as ‘clean’ and healthy as possible but boneless skinless chicken multiple times a week for dinner can get pretty darn boring.

I had to find a way to make our dinners with chicken a little more exciting.

Enter freezer friendly marinated chicken that is pre-prepped and ready to go next time you need a quick meal!

Guys, this is amazing. Having a stock of pre-marinaded chicken has saved me on the nights where I didn’t have time to meal plan for that week.

When chicken goes on sale, I suggest stocking up and trying a few of these recipes below. Because it’s both healthy and frugal.

I have tried every single one of these below, multiple times in fact. These are my go to family favorites!

So let’s get started on how to do this.

Tools Needed for Freezer Marinades

  • 4 cup Pyrex measuring cup
  • Ziploc Quart bags
  • Measuring teaspoons
  • Meat mallet
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Sharpie

Steps to Pre-prep Chicken for Marinade

  1. Use one hand to cut and open the Ziploc bag and the other hand to handle raw chicken
  2. Place chicken on the cutting board and cut off the fat and gristle
  3. Use meat mallet to flatten out and make the chicken even thickness. Do not flatten the chicken too much. This process also tenderizes the chicken but if you flatten the chicken too much you will break down the meat.
  4. Cut chicken breasts in half.
  5. Place the chicken in a Ziploc bag. Depending on the size of the chicken breast, I estimate about half of a breast per person. If they are small, I will estimate 1 chicken breast (or 2 pieces when cut in half) per person.

Time to Add the Marinades to the Ziploc Bag

  1. Pick a marinade recipe below.
  2. Pour all the marinade ingredients into the 4 cup Pyrex container. (really you can use any container, but using a measuring cup makes it so much faster to measure ingredients without making extra dishes).
  3. Mix ingredients
  4. Pour approximately 1/2 cup per 4 sliced chicken breasts
  5. Remove as much air from the Ziploc as possible and close. Try to mix the marinade throughout the chicken.
  6. Label and date the bag
  7. Lay the chicken flat in the freezer. It will be good for about 3 months.

*If you want to use the marinaded chicken the same day, place it in the fridge to marinade (for food safety reasons). The chicken should marinade for at least 30 minutes or up to 24 hours.
